National Geographic is celebrating the magic of Japan’s cherry blossom season by asking community members to submit their best photos of the stunning scenery. The submissions so far are absolutely breathtaking.
Known as “sakura zensen”, cherry blossom season in Japan always calls for celebration. Nothing illustrates the coming of spring better than the spread of the pink flowers across the islands.
The Japanese love their blossoms so much that they even have a special forecast dedicated to counting down the days until the arrival of the stunning blooms.
Not only does the country keenly track the progress of the blossom spread, they also have a special custom called “hanami” which is a cherry blossom viewing party.
