Burger King Japan occasionally seems to be playing catch-up. The chain temporarily left the Japanese market from 2001 to 2007, giving rivals including McDonald’s, Mos Burger, and Freshness Burger the opportunity to snag excellent locations for their restaurants.
Burger King, however, has devised a daring new plan and is outdoing its competitors by building a Berlint store, making it the first fast food restaurant brand to have a location in the People’s Republic of Ostania. It is also well-known as the location of the plot in anime and manga Spy x Family.
Anya Forger is the peanut-loving esper who is the only one who truly understands the entire narrative of what’s going on in the anime series. Given that Anya Forger is replete with secret identities, hidden agendas, and beautiful familial connections, Burger King Japan’s new peanut butter burgers are a sensible move.
Framed images from the series will be displayed on the walls of The Berlint Burger King (which is a temporary rebranding of the chain’s branch on Tokyo’s Shibuya Center-Gai Street, along with a collection of “Anya quotes,” perhaps beginning with her early use of the words “father” and “mother”).
As Anya’s spy father Loid would do when taking one of his disguise masks off, The Berlint Burger King officially launched on October 21 and will be open until November 17. It will then return to its standard Shibuya appearance.
