Rakuten announced the platform in a press release. The platform allows the customers to create their own personal Rakuten ID, and users can conduct p2p buying and selling of Tokens. The marketplace should focus on NFTs related to sports, music, and anime. There is also a service to build up your own website to mint and sell your NFTs. While making each purchase, customers can earn some points to spend again on the marketplace.

Rakuten has been following a variety of NFT marketplaces that were launched in the past 12 months. Coinbase and FTX have created marketplaces for non-fungible tokens (NFT) collectibles. Rakuten NFT also competes with leading NFT marketplace platforms like Opensea and Rarible. Rakuten’s press release notes that the minting and selling features won’t be made available until next year.

“A peer-to-peer service for issuing and selling NFT content is planned to launch in 2023 or later. This will allow IP holders worldwide to issue NFTs and support further development of the global market for NFTs. Rakuten announced that plans include the addition of multiple payment methods.

The initial batch of NFTs will include NFTs featuring Ultraman, Kurogane Hiroshi G1 Gekitoshi, illustrated by the mangaka. Rakuten NFT will continue to drop collectibles from TV Asahi Corporation shows.

They also announced their plans to create NFTs of the Japanese League, sell them, and create a Rakuten NFT Gallery, which will focus on hosting original digital artwork.
