We’re already halfway through the summer, and if the heat index is anything to go by, it’s been a hot one!
Every chance I get, I am either at the beach cooling off in the ocean, or dunking in my friend’s swimming pool! I can’t make it through the heat without some form of water.
Humans aren’t the only ones who need water to beat the heat. Elephants also love to go for a swim when the temperature starts to climb.
One baby elephant at the Dallas Zoo recently had the best day ever learning what a swimming pool was. He got his own kiddie pool to play in!
Staff members at the Fuji Safari Park in Japan built a 65-meter long elephant swimming pool. The pool has increased the elephants’ food intake, as they eat a lot more after a few laps in the pool.
The best part about this pool is that zoo guests can see how the elephants swim in the water. They can see which ways the elephants move their feet and the fact that they just put the tip of their trunk out of the water to breathe.
The zoo is very conscious of keeping their guests happy, they even let people hold little lions and take photos with them. Would you ever want to visit this zoo? I’m going to look up flight costs right now!
Don’t forget to SHARE these adorable elephants with all of your friends and family!
