Major Disruptions Coming to Tokyo’s Yamanote Line Nov 18 and 19
Trains on Tokyo’s busy Yamanote Line will see major service reductions and suspensions this weekend due to construction work at Shibuya Station.
On Saturday, November 18th, the clockwise outer loop of the line will be completely shut down between Osaki and Ikebukuro stations for the entire day.
On Sunday, November 19th, the counter-clockwise inner loop will be suspended between Ikebukuro and Osaki. Train frequencies along the rest of the line will also be reduced to about every 10 minutes on both days.
Officials say the work is part of ongoing improvements at Shibuya Station. Passengers are advised to allow extra time and consider alternate transportation options during the disruptions. The regular schedule is set to resume on Monday.
