Tokyo Tower Lights Up for Christmas with Retro-Style Illuminations
Tokyo Tower, the iconic landmark celebrating its 65th anniversary this December, will sparkle with retro-inspired Christmas illuminations from December 2nd through December 25th.
The centerpiece is a 10-meter tall “Little Tokyo Tower” object in front of the main entrance, covered in 41,000 LED lights. The miniature tower puts on a 15-minute light show every hour starting at 4 PM, with lights dancing to original background music. The illuminations are designed to evoke a nostalgic Showa era aesthetic. Pine garlands around the installation add a festive touch.
In addition, candle-shaped lights and Christmas projection mapping will adorn the north face of the main observation deck 150 meters up. The candle illuminations and fantastical projections will create a magical atmosphere against the nighttime view.
Visitors can enjoy both light exhibits for free. The Tokyo Tower team hopes the warm, retrospective illuminations will delight guests this holiday season as the landmark celebrates 65 years.
